A poem in sound about The City, set in Belfast.
Words & Voice: Toni Hegarty
The Metropolis Sounds: This work is a sonic setting of a poem by Toni Hegarty. My interpretation of her text is that it presents ‘the City’ as a shared, often temporary node in the transitory state of twenty-first century living. To me, Hegarty’s poem describes the ‘metropolis’ as a place that can play a significant part in the way new inhabitants identify themselves.
Toni Hegarty: A poet born and brought up in Belfast, who in 2013 was studying for a Masters in Creative Writing at Queen’s University Belfast.
